Sorry for being AWOL last week, my fellow Dawg fans. I was up north with my tour group refighting the Battle of Gettysburg. We lost again. But down here in the North Georgia Piedmont it was a glorious week. Cover Kirby unleashed am offensive machine against the Hapless Hilltoppers and I was surprised they didn’t throw in the red towel much sooner. But I’d just a’soon we never stopped to the white-out gimmick again in my lifetime. Sanford Stadium is supposed to be red. And up the road on North Avenue the Nerds demonstrated what every single Saturday would look like if they played in the Southeastern Conference. But it is finally the weekend again, so what the Huck! Let’s pick a few games.

Teddy Bears at Hapless Nerds. The Rambling Wreck has a couple of flat tires and a blown head gasket, but a D-1 bicycle could run rings around the FCS school that’s rolling into The Joke by the Coke looking for a payday. Look for Brent Key’s clowns to do their best imitation of a real football team and put up a lot of points against the over-matched neighbors from Macon. But remember—the Saturday after Thanksgiving we restore order to the Universe by winning our ninth straight against the imposters from the Institute.

Lame Kiffin in the Grove. This game has more subplots than War and Peace, and perhaps more explosives. Coach walks out on team as they are about to enter the college playoffs, poaches tons of players from the roster. Not satisfied with that, he tries to poach former Ole Miss players from NFL training camps. Then files a fake injury report on his star quarterback who is certain to have a miraculous recovery just before gametime. Add to that the fact that Mississippi will have to hire the Swiss Guard to try and keep Kiffin from harm throughout the evening. Oh, yes. There will be a football game, too. I think LSU wins that, because they have better football players than Ole Miss.
Tigers 27 Rebels 21

Giant Water Lizards at Tigers/Plainsmen/Thunderbirds. Florida is trying so hard to be back. Auburn is trying so hard to keep from Auburning. Hugh Freeze still maintains that his team was just a scosh away from being in the thick of things last year. Now Auburn has Alex Goulash and his team was a scosh better than Baylor, thanks to a heck of a goal line tackle and they performed as expected against Ray Guy’s old school. I believe John Summrall will have his squad just a little bit further along this week so the trees in Toomer’s Corner should remain toilet paper free.
Florida 24 Barners 21

Kentucky at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical. For a quarter-and-a-half last week, the Wildcats brash new coach, Will “Sneak some booze into the game” Stine seemed to have forgotten where he was coaching and led Alabama. Then he out-smarted himself and tried one of the dumbest fake kicks since Kirby Smart thought he could sneak Justin Fields onto the turf unnoticed, and the route was on. No repeat performance this week. The Kyle Field Yell Leaders will have plenty to yell about from start to finish Saturday.

Maroon Bulldogs at Enter Sandstorm. This game is like two mules fighting over a turnip. Nobody really cares who winds up with the turnip except fans of the respective mules. Let’s say the cock-a-doodles that roost in Williams Brice are worth a point or two this week.
Cocks 21 State 18

Free Shoes University at Tuscaloosa. We broke FSU 63-3 in the Orange Bowl two years ago. They have not recovered. Tide Rolls.
Bama 42 Noles 17

Red Clay Hounds at Soooie Pig. This one could have all the makings of a trap game. 11 am start. Empty stadium. Oklahoma coming to Athens next week. First time on road in league—which is historically troublesome for Georgia. But Arkansas coaching genius, Ryan Silverfield, thought it would be a good idea to tweak Kirby Smarts nose last spring by trolling him about “playing to Georgia’s standard” and then stating that Arkansas’s standard was “not recruiting wide receivers who drove 900 miles an hour over the speed limit.” Kirby has said multiple times this week that it’s water under the bridge, but he’s also emphasized that Silverfield CHOSE to say that. Cover Kirby will be back in action this week. Count on the Dawgs firing on all cylinders and don’t count on seeing third teamers in the contest in the first half. Dawgs on top.
Georgia 45 Hogs 10

I won’t be in Fayetteville Saturday, but I’ll be around. Look for me. I’ll be the good-looking guy in the red shirt. Or what’s left of him.
